Mississippi Arts Commission Postponing Minigrant Opportunity
Additional funding opportunities to be announced later this year
JACKSON, MISS. – April 30, 2020 – Due to the effects of COVID-19 and the swift efforts of the Mississippi Arts Commission to prioritize and distribute emergency federal funding for arts organizations across Mississippi, MAC will postpone its spring Minigrant round. MAC Minigrants typically open May 1 with a deadline of June 1 and provide between $500-$1,000 for professional development opportunities to individual artists and eligible organizations. MAC continues to provide resources to Mississippi’s arts sector and plans to announce additional funding opportunities later this year.
“While we will not offer Minigrants this spring as usual, we are thankful to be able to provide much-needed relief to the arts sector during this time, be it through a MAC CARES grant or by helping artists and arts organizations rethink their programming,” said Malcolm White, executive director of MAC. “As we continue to assess the losses experienced by the arts sector due to COVID-19, MAC will offer future funding opportunities to address these growing needs.”
The agency recently received approximately $441,100 in CARES Act COVID-19 recovery funding from the NEA and established the MAC CARES Emergency Grants program to provide economic relief as quickly as possible to its grantees who were awarded a MAC Operating Grant in the current or most recent fiscal year.
COVID-19 information and resources for the arts sector is available on MAC’s COVID-19 and Emergency Preparedness page.
