Supports Mississippi community development through expanding access to the arts and promoting the use of them to address community needs.

Develops the arts industry in Mississippi by assisting arts organizations, artists and the network of arts providers across the state.
Strengthens education in and through the arts by promoting sequential, comprehensive arts education in grades K–12 for all Mississippi students.

The Whole Schools Initiative expands regular classroom instruction to include the arts and promotes collaborations between arts and classroom teachers to create arts infused instruction. Currently, Mississippi has 23 schools (more than 15% of all school districts) participating in this model of school reform.
Increases knowledge of and pride in Mississippi’s artistic and cultural traditions by expanding access to and awareness of the state’s folk and traditional art forms.

The BFA program, funded through general obligation bonds, is designed to give the arts a stronger presence within Mississippi’s communities. BFA monies are used for the renovation, repair, expansion and enhancement of cultural facilities.
