MAC Participates in Engage Mississippi

Engage Mississippi and the Mississippi Day of Giving

Engage Mississippi, a new effort spearheaded by Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC), Mississippi Center for Nonprofits and Volunteer Mississippi, is focused on aligning the state’s resources toward a common goal and facilitating collaboration to solve community problems. By developing a strategy for effectively “channeling change,” Engage Mississippi seeks to ensure the creative and charitable economy in Mississippi has the tools to continue playing a critical role in the economic health of communities in our state.

As part of this effort, Mississippi Day of Giving was established by a 2015 Governor’s Proclamation to celebrate the spirit of philanthropy in our state. The purpose of this powerful giving experience is to unite Mississippians around causes in which they truly believe in and help nonprofit organizations connect to the larger community.

During the Day of Giving, participants and donors will collectively embrace new tools and strategies that generate excitement and multiply resources for organizations doing great work all over the state. This event is a unique opportunity to highlight how Mississippians can work together to share commitments, build stronger communities, and improve the quality of life for all citizens in our communities.

“The Mississippi Arts Commission is so proud to participate in this effort to help nonprofit arts organizations have another avenue to raise additional funds to support their work to make their communities a more vibrant place to live,” stated Dr. Tom Pearson, Executive Director of MAC.  “Our state is the most philanthropic in the nation, and this will provide donors with an even simpler way to support our hard-working nonprofits.”
