The Governor’s Arts Awards, established in 1988, celebrate the vital connection between government and the arts, honoring individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions or achieved artistic excellence in Mississippi.

Artists and organizations that have a significant impact on the arts in Mississippi are eligible. While nominees do not have to currently reside in the state, they must have strong ties through past residency or impact.
