Originally from Central Mississippi, Shelby started his professional music career playing drums for the band Lorenzo and the Foxy Lady at 17. Along the way, Shelby picked up the guitar, bass, keys and harmonica. Opening for the likes of B.B. King in 2008 at Club Ebony in Indianola. After graduating from DSU with a BA in Sound Engineering and Percussion Education, he relocated to Austin, where he played music as a solo artist and for Texassippi Two, a very popular duo with several residencies during his stay, opening for Bobby Whitlock of Derek and the Dominoes, Jack Ingram, and Rob Thomas. After 8 years of touring Texas, Shelby came back home to Mississippi.
Along with live music, Shelby teaches guitar, drums, keys, and pro-audio from his home studio. Shelby was a finalist for the Jimmie Rodger’s Songwriting Festival contest and the Mississippi Songwriter of the Year. Recently, he opened for Charlie Mars at Duling Hall and was featured playing originals on the network TV show Hometown.
