Shanina Carmichael is a teaching and performing artist specializing in the songs, rhythms and dances of West Africa, afro-modern dance and modern dance. Carmichael fuses dance instruction with cultural exploration and history while making connections to the African-American experience and art forms of today. She has more than 20 years of dance experience and is available for arts integration instruction, trainings, and lectures. She has studied with master teachers and performed at venues such as the International Museum of Muslim Cultures, Mississippi Children’s Museum and Tougaloo College. She has also taught in schools throughout Mississippi, cultural centers and fitness centers.
