Using arts integration strategies and his unique experience as a children’s book author/illustrator, Chuck’s goal is to inspire students to become life long readers. He has presented workshops in classrooms and libraries all over the southeast. An enthusiastic advocate of arts in the classroom as a teaching tool across the curriculum, Chuck’s programs keep students of all ages engaged and, although they don’t realize it, learning.

Chuck’s interactive programs keep students and teachers captivated through his unique qualifications as an author/illustrator of children’s literature. He is able to tailor programs for student arts experiences as well as teacher and administrator professional development training for educators of all grades and levels. His approach to writing, reading, and art experiences encourages active student engagement and participation using creative drawing story interpretation exercises that enhance material retention and stimulates creativity.

One of Chuck’s creative programs has students working with the Chinese art form TANGRAMS and utilizing the book Grandfather Tang’s Story. This STEAM arts integrated lesson plan is a favorite among schools that like to teach the sciences within arts integrated lessons.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Chuck has pivoted and evolved his in-person workshops to virtual presentations. Using both video and the ZOOM meeting platforms, he continues to offer quality presentations to students and teachers alike.

Chuck is available to work with students and teachers for full day or three to five day residencies throughout the academic year and summer workshops.
