Born and raised near Hammond, Louisiana, Samm Jacquot was immersed in bluegrass music from an early age. Her father, Hinkle White, a musician and friend of Bill Monroe, often hosted jam sessions with legends like Bill Monroe, Joe Stuart, and Norman Barnam. Playing upright bass and rhythm guitar, Samm joined The White Family Band, performing at numerous bluegrass festivals in Louisiana and the Sullivan Family’s annual festival in Chatham, Alabama. Her skillful guitar playing evolved from her father’s teaching while she honed her skills with guidance from Bill Monroe (Uncle Bill, as she so fondly called him), Joe Stuart, and Kenny Baker. Miss Margie Sullivan’s vocal projection lessons and Joe Stuart’s harmony teachings significantly influenced her singing style and developed her voice into a captivating blend of salty, bluesy grit intertwined with soft, velvety undertones. Her deep-rooted passion for bluegrass and her family music legacy prompted her commitment to sharing a broad range of music genres with a wider audience. Samm performs at festivals, venues, restaurants, special community events, weddings, parties, and other prestigious occasions. She provides musical entertainment as a solo performer, duo, or with a full band.
