Mississippi Brass & Percussion is a seven member group consisting of a traditional brass quintet plus two percussionists. Members are longtime well-known professional musicians in the Jackson metropolitan area, and most perform full time or as extra musicians with the Mississippi Symphony. Many also hold faculty teaching positions at local colleges and universities. The group first came together in 2013 with a common desire to experience the more individualized playing offered by a small ensemble while fostering an appreciation of brass and percussion music. Over the past nine years, Mississippi Brass & Percussion has performed for a variety of audiences including students, retirees, and veterans, and for various churches in Meridian, Vicksburg, and the Jackson area, including recital performances in the Lenten Concert Series at Vicksburg’s Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and in the St. Paul Chamber Series in Meridian. The group strives to present diverse quality programs for all of its performances, playing a wide variety of genres and styles of music, ranging from classical to pop to jazz and everything in between. Mississippi Brass & Percussion is available for recitals, concert performances, church services, weddings and receptions, private parties, festivals, patriotic celebrations, ceremonial fanfares, educational informances and master classes.
