Originally from Nesbit, Mississippi, Kenny Brown is a North Mississippi Hill Country blues artist and slide artist. He began playing in the early 1970s. Brown has recorded with legendary artists such as R.L. Burnside (who considered Kenny his “adopted” son), Junior Kimbrough, Asie Payton, CeDell Davis, Paul “Wine” Jones, Frank Frost, T-Model Ford, Dale Hawkins, Mojo Bufford, Jessie Mae Hemphill, The North Mississippi Allstars, Jojo Herman, as well as Cyndi Lauper. His debut album Goin’ Back to Mississippi was released in 1996, and he has since released several albums including Wild Side in 2019. Brown’s guitar work was featured in the 2006 film Black Snake Moan, in which he provided background vocals for Samuel L. Jackson. He was also featured in the film’s climax as a guitarist in a blues band, playing alongside Cedric Burnside. Brown continues to perform locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
