Mississippi Writers Trail Marker Unveiling for Stark Young

Stark Young will join 13 other Mississippi writer’s to have a marker on the Mississippi Writers Trail! Stark Young (1881-1963) was a playwright, novelist, painter, literary critic, translator, and essayist from Como, MS. He is known for So Red the Rose, which was published in 1934 and later adapted into a movie. Young’s literary portraits of “southern humanism” sought to redeem the image of the South after the destruction wrought by the Civil War and the brutal reality of slavery.

The marker will be dedicated in Como, MS, on November 12, at 10 a.m. 104 Main Street, Como, MS.
