Mississippi Writers Trail – Patti Carr Black

June 18 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Help honor one of Mississippi’s most celebrated literary voices, Patti Carr Black, with the unveiling of her Mississippi Writers Trail marker on Wednesday, June 18, at 2:00 p.m. at the Old Capitol Museum in Jackson.

This new marker is part of the Mississippi Writers Trail, a statewide initiative that pays tribute to the state’s most acclaimed and influential writers. Each marker, shaped like an open book and cast in aluminum, commemorates an author’s life and legacy by highlighting the significance of place in their work, whether it’s their birthplace, home, or another meaningful literary location.

The Writers Trail not only preserves Mississippi’s rich literary history but also connects communities through tourism, education, and cultural heritage. Authors such as Eudora Welty, Richard Wright, and Jesmyn Ward, among many others, are honored through this growing network of literary landmarks across the state.
