On this week’s episode of Mississippi Arts Hour, Maria Zeringue and Larry Morrisey speak with Mississippi Folklife contributors, Vish Shenoy, Addie Citchens, and Lee Harper. A project of MAC, Mississippi Folklife is an online publication documenting the state’s present-day cultural heritage. The first segment features Vish Shenoy, a sitar player based in Clinton, MS who has been learning and playing the instrument for the past 15 years. Next, Maria and Larry speak with writer and editor, Addie Citchens, about her two Clarksdale essays featuring Messenger’s Pool Hall and WROX radio deejay Early Wright. In the third segment, Oxford-based artist, Lee Harper, discusses her diorama project History Bones, wherein miniature skeletons act out scenes from the fringes of history.
