Today on Arts Hour, we continue our coverage of this year’s Governor’s Arts Award recipients. Melody spoke with the recipient for Excellence in Music, folk-rock artist Steve Forbert, about his journey as a musician. A Meridian native, Forbert began his career playing music on the streets and clubs of New York City, eventually moving to Nashville and finally making his way to his current home on the Jersey Shore. Forbert’s career has spanned over 40 years and is documented in his memoir Big City Cat: My Life in Folk Rock and its accompanying album The Magic Tree. Tune in this Sunday at 5pm on MPB Think Radio.
