Meet the MAC with Clinton Ink-Slingers

The Clinton Ink-Slingers writers group will sponsor an artists’ grant writing workshop on September 17 at the Clinton Visitor Center. Kristen Brandt will speak on artists’ grants available from the Mississippi Arts Commission. Grants to individuals vary from $500 mini-grants to Artist Fellowship Programs of up to $5,000. Organizations may apply for Mini-grants from $200 to Operating Grants of up to $30,000, aimed to help nonprofit arts organizations. Some grants are cash matching or reimbursement for expenditures. All grants work to promote the arts in Mississippi.
Kristen Brandt, Arts Industry Director for the Mississippi Arts Commission, is a Mississippi native holding a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Mississippi College and a Master’s degree in folk Studies from Western Kentucky University. Her responsibilities include managing a portfolio of grants for writers and arts organizations as well as overseeing special projects such as the Mississippi Writers Trail.
