Testimonial: “When I relocated to Mississippi and spoke for Addie Green in Bolton Mississippi, she suggested that I should apply. I received one in 2013 and another one in 2018,” according to J. Moffett Walker. “Those grants are really helpful!”
Kristen Brandt will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Clinton Ink-Slingers. Brandt is a Mississippi native holding a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Mississippi College and a Master’s degree in Folk Studies from Western Kentucky University. Her responsibilities include managing a portfolio of grants for writers and overseeing special projects such as the Mississippi Artist Roster, the Mississippi Writers’ Trail, and the Underserved Initiative.
J. Moffett Walker, president and Joedda Gore, publicity chairman of the Ink-Slingers, invite both emerging and dedicated writers as well as artists of all disciplines to attend this presentation to receive information regarding funding opportunities through the Mississippi Arts Commission’s Minigrants Program. Individual Artist Minigrants provide up to $500 in support for artists to complete one of three eligible projects: attending a professional development workshop/conference, developing both digital and print marketing materials, or to purchase consumable supplies. The applications may be submitted May 1 – June 1.
