Dr. Mark Hugh Malone is a veteran music educator with more than 30 years of classroom experience in a variety of settings with students of all ages. He has been a frequent presenter at MAC’s Mississippi Whole Schools Summer and Winter Institutes and has organized professional development workshops for teachers. He is available to lead training workshops for teachers in arts-integration and advise on how to develop AI units and lesson plans for any topic.
Dr. Malone has acted as curriculum designer for several education initiatives led by the Mississippi Arts Commission. His work on The Mississippi Blues Trail and Beyond has been featured at conferences in Hawaii, Tennessee, and Mississippi. A second curriculum Mississippi History Through the Arts: A Bicentennial Journey traces 200 years of the state’s history through the visual and performing arts. The most recent set of lesson plans is entitled, Footprints in the Dust: The Natchez Trace. Dr. Malone is available for residencies or lessons utilizing arts-integration for any of the curricula above.
